I’m really excited to be delivering two new weekly sensory STEM Storytelling sessions on Thursday mornings in Hastings.
One for walkers to 2 year-olds:
And the other for 2-5 years olds:
Before modern science labs existed we had the natural world and folktales. Knowledge was shared through communal storytelling and exploration of the natural world.
Each Sensory STEM storytelling class will feature an interactive retelling of a traditional story followed by hands on sensory play focused upon a related scientific topic.
The sessions will be open to any walkers under 2 and their caregivers. Children attend for free with a suggested donation of £5 for adults.
Wherever possible, props, craft materials and scientific experiments will be made from natural materials to reduce waste and encourage connection with the natural world.
The classes will be welcoming and relaxed with a focus on enabling the children to explore the space, topic and materials at their own pace.
Professional storyteller Helen Tozer has previously delivered family workshops for The Natural History Museum, Imperial College, Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses and many more. She is passionate about empowering children and their carers to embrace their curiosity for the natural world in a supportive and fun space.
